Welcome to Sandgate Hawks Netball Club for 2024! We are a community-based, family-oriented club with our core values being Honesty, Aspire, Work Hard, Kindness and Strength.
It is my privilege to work with you all as club President. I have had a long career working with children in the capacity as a teacher and school leader and combined with my involvement and love of netball throughout my life, look forward to serving our club and giving back to our local community.
The club has continued to grow this year and we have seen significant growth over the last 5 years in both our Winter and Summer competitions. Through the hard work of our committee throughout this same period we now have a fantastic training facility at Bracken Ridge, many dedicated returning coaches and players.
The club operates on a voluntary basis with many individuals having provided support over many years to establish and maintain the club in its present state. Importantly, these volunteers have enabled all players to enjoy netball in a fun, safe and affordable way. I lead an amazing committee with very dedicated people that give up so much of their own time and devote it to our wonderful families and the Sandgate Hawks Netball community.
Voluntary positions (Coaching and Managers) offer a wonderful opportunity for you to be an integral part of our club. A chance to be involved in the local community, a way to meet friends and families and an opportunity to express yourself, your skill sets and bring all your ideas to the table. If you would like this opportunity, please register your interest at our current EOI link on our website.
Sandgate Hawks Netball Club are planning many fantastic opportunities and events for this coming year. We have just finished a set of very successful ‘come and try’ sessions and are currently holding development training (with an amazing number of our players attending). This weekend we begin our compulsory grading that will see us start to compose our teams for 2024. Sandgate Hawks Netball fundraising committee is busy as well, planning carnivals, sausage sizzles and a music bingo extravaganza!
As a member of our club, we value your feedback. Please reach out at any time by contacting myself or the Secretary:
I look forward to seeing many familiar faces and meeting new players over the coming months as we continue to grow our club together, making it a wonderful safe place to be and play netball.
Kind regards,
Karen Rasmussen
Club President
