See attachments for details on age groups, times, location & what to wear! What to Expect at GradingOur grading days involve two Sunday sessions per age group, for players turning 10 to 17 years in that year (i.e. 2023). The players get the opportunity to try out in two positions and are observed by our Grading Committee, which includes three internal (SHNC) and one external grader. The Grading Committee will take extensive notes on each player, focused on basic netball skills and aligned to our Grading Policy. Our Grading Committee uses these notes to create teams of players with similar skill sets, to ensure there is player and team development throughout the season.
The sessions start with a warmup and then players are allocated positions, based on those nominated via their online registration in Netball Connect. There will only be 14 players on the court at any given time and all players will receive an equal amount of court time. The players will have the opportunity to rest in between games.
These sessions can be quite fast paced and, for our younger and new to netball players, it can be a bit overwhelming. These sessions are also “closed”, which means we do not allow parents/ spectators in the facility to watch grading. We will have a lot of amazing Committee Members and volunteers on the day to help and we are confident it will be a great experience for all. However, if you think your child might need some extra support, please let us know:
